What happened

The path

Three years ago, a team of SAP employees from different organizations joined forces. We wanted to help every employee and every leader to manage their workplace relationships with trust and empathy. It was our belief we can change the way people work together in a world with rapidly growing remote teams, the gig economy and flattening org structures.

We celebrated with passing each milestone and immediately looked for the next one. Highlights included SAP.iO Intrapreneurship accelerator, getting funded by Venture Studio, working with the first 50 users, growing the team, integrating with the tools people used for their meetings, becoming the de-facto standard tool for 1:1 in more and more groups around the world, integrating with HR tools. Most important of all has always been the help and love from thousands of users.

We were lucky to build a community of creative and vocal users. You, our users, were extremely creative and used Dabra in countless ways while suggesting to us how to improve the product.

One of our main hypotheses was that managing your workplace relationships should work bottom-up and be viral. Despite high retention rates and dozens of imaginative ways our users used Dabra, we failed to prove this hypothesis. Along the way, we tried an alternative approach to prove the market viability but weren’t able to secure further funding.

What’s next for the team

We are a small team that was able to handle all aspects of the product design, development, DevOps, customer success, marketing and managing the business. Every one of us learned significant new skills. We are grateful to be SAP employees. SAP provides unprecedented support for taking risks and this allows us to safely explore further career opportunities in SAP, locally and globally.

It was an immense journey understanding the way people manage their workplace relationships and help manage them better. It couldn’t be done without the help of dozens of good people who joined forces with us in fellowships, internships and just as a way to help. Just to name a few: Nirit, Shira, Oran, Naama, Jianrong, Chris, Javier, Anat, Debi, Betty, Nikki, Marek, Miro, Margo, Sofia, Sanjay, Katja, Nelli, Alexander, Katya, Ksenia, Georgy, Marco, Rodrigo, Stefan, Steve, Karine

We are grateful for this journey and are still learning from it

Does the term "Year-End Review" get your pulse racing?

Does the term "Year-End Review" get your pulse racing?  Do you dread having to consolidate all of your accomplishments? Are you reluctant to hear feedback from your manager and peers? Well, performance reviews shouldn't be scary if you consider their ultimate goal -- alignment on performance and agreement on what to focus on in the future.

A regular alignment is a great opportunity to review your achievements against both business and development goals to develop a shared understanding of how your work relates to the team and the company's objectives.  This allows you to highlight the impact you've made, the challenges you've overcome and the lessons you've learned. An open conversation creates a pathway for feedback and identification of further opportunities for development.

Select topic templates in Dabra

To help you get started, we’ve teamed with HR professionals to create a Performance Alignment meeting template that you can use throughout the year (not just at Year-End).  Within Dabra, you can reflect upon your accomplishments against business goals, successes, challenges, and lessons learned. You can highlight the courses you've taken and the skills gained. You and your manager can discuss feedback on your performance -- what should you start, stop and continue doing. Finally, you can document the outcome of your conversation and what to focus on moving forward.

To locate the template, just start typing a new topic and select "Alignment on…" from the drop-down menu.

You can find additional guidance on this template and review the other 1:1 meeting templates in the Meeting Templates section of the Dabra Help Center.

Introducing: 1:1 Meeting Templates

An effective meeting starts with a clear agenda. To quote advice from Steve Jobs "you should never go to a meeting...without a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve".

1:1 Meeting Templates

To help you get the most out of your 1:1s in Dabra, we've just launched nine Meeting Templates, a.k.a. actionable guides for a variety of meetings, built on talent management best practices. From goal setting, to feedback conversations, we've got your key check-ins covered.

These 1:1 meeting templates are now available in the Dabra app. To use them, just start typing a new topic and select one of the suggested templates from the drop down menu:

Selecting one of these templates will populate an actionable guide for your next meeting agenda, which includes a suggested flow and questions. You can make edits and add/remove questions as needed to fit your meeting.

You can find additional guidance on each of the templates in the Meeting Templates section of the Dabra Help Center.
